THERE IS NO EVIL by Mohammad Rasoulof wins the 2020 Berlinale Golden Bear

The 70th Berlin International Film Festival ended with the triumph of THERE IS NO EVIL (Sheytan vojud nadarad). The film by the Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof received the Golden Bear from the Jury headed by Jeremy Irons. A jury president joined by Bérénice Bejo, Bettina Brokemper, Annemarie Jacir, Kenneth Lonergan, Luca Marinelli and Kleber Mendonça Filho.  

Rasoulof’s drama is the third Iranian film to take Berlin's top prize in the past decade, following Jafar Panahi's TAXI in 2015 and Asghar Farhadi's A SEPARATION in 2011.

THERE IS NO EVIL also won the Award of the Ecumenic Jury and the Award of the Guild of Arthouse Cinemas.

Official Synopsis:
Every society that enforces the death penalty needs people to kill other people. Four men are put in front of an unthinkable but simple choice. Whatever they decide, it will directly or indirectly corrode themselves, their relationships, and their entire lives.
