The Passion of Christ is transposed to Sardinia, to a place that is different from the original one, as in the works of Renaissance painters who represented the episodes narrated in the Gospel by setting them in their own time and their own countries, with their own costumes, without ever showing Palestine.
In the film the story begins and ends in the tomb where Mary is weeping over her son’s body. Everything has already happened, but the preceding events are replayed as the memories and dreams of the various protagonists.
